Baku Accuses Yerevan of Spreading False Information

Baku has accused Yerevan of spreading false information regarding the closure of the Lachin corridor and the number of Armenians in Karabakh. ‘Numerous videos circulating on social media show that vehicles are freely passing through the Lachin corridor,’ stated Ayhan Hacizadeh, spokesperson for Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, on Twitter.

It is worth noting that on December 12, at around 10:30 AM, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothing, again citing environmental reasons, closed the Stepanakert-Goris highway. The Azerbaijani side, in violation of the provisions of the trilateral agreement of November 9, 2020, has blocked the only road connecting Artsakh to the world under the pretext of environmental concerns, infringing upon the vital interests and rights of the civilian population.

On December 13, Azerbaijan also halted gas supplies to Artsakh. However, on December 16, during his live broadcast, the State Minister of Artsakh, Ruben Vardanyan, stated that without any preconditions and without concessions on their part, Azerbaijan had restored gas supplies.

The only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia remains closed.
