Students March in Protest Towards Government Building

Students today, on December 19, are holding a protest march from the Yerevan State University building towards the Government headquarters. They are demanding actions to open the road connecting Artsakh to Armenia. The students have decided to submit a petition to the government to ensure the safety of the people of Artsakh.

One of the participants, Artsakh student Mariam Hayryan, noted that Artsakh has been under blockade for 8 days now, and the situation is becoming more complicated as needs keep increasing. “We must help the 120,000 people in every way possible, because they truly need us. Armenia must stand by Artsakh. It's great that students are joining our struggle to help the people of Artsakh. My family and all my relatives are in Artsakh; they are urging us to be more active. Our presence at these protests is very important. We stand by Artsakh and know that we are doing something significant. We hope the road will open by New Year so that I can celebrate at home as I do every year,” she said.

Another student, Anastasia Kiryakosyan, added that they are marching to the government because they believe the government is the number one responsible party for any event happening within the state. “We will be demanding that they support our compatriots, even if it’s just through a statement or some initiative,” she stated.
