According to Azerbaijan, the so-called monitoring of the mine is more important than the lives of 120,000 people: Marukyan

The Special Envoy of the Republic of Armenia, Edmon Marukyan, addressed the issue of the closure of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan in a Twitter post. “According to Azerbaijan, the so-called monitoring of the mine is more important than the lives of 120,000 people, including 30,000 children,” wrote Marukyan, tagging U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, President of the European Council Charles Michel, and President of France Emmanuel Macron.

It should be noted that on December 12, at around 10:30 AM, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes again closed the Stepanakert-Goris highway, citing environmental reasons. Violating the provisions of the trilateral agreement of November 9, 2020, Azerbaijan has blocked the only road connecting Artsakh to the world on the grounds of environmental concerns, infringing upon the vital interests and rights of the civilian population.

On December 13, Azerbaijan also halted gas supplies to Artsakh. Yesterday, on December 16, the State Minister of Artsakh Ruben Vardanyan stated during a live broadcast that Azerbaijan had restored gas supplies without any preconditions or concessions from their side. He mentioned that the road could open during the day; however, a day after that announcement, the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia remains closed.
