Video: "Russia Will Reintroduce Two-Year Military Service" - What Did the Russian Lieutenant Colonel Say?
The military commissioner of the Dmitrov city district, Lieutenant Colonel Mikhail Fotin, stated during a broadcast on Dmitrov television that two-year military service will be reinstated in Russia in 2023. The video has also been published on the Dmitrov TV YouTube channel.
"There is official information from the military commissioner of the Moscow region that there will be a transitional period in the spring. Citizens conscripted in the spring will serve for one and a half years, while those drafted in the autumn of 2023 will serve for two years," Fotin said.
He also announced that he supports this decision due to the entry of the "northern neighbors" into NATO.
"Accordingly, it will be necessary to form new units, military formations, and fill them not only with contract soldiers but also with conscripted servicemen," he clarified.
The video was published the day before and has been elaborated on by RBC. The channel deleted it, but the footage has spread across social networks. More details can be found in the video.
