Varazdat Lalayan Wins Bronze Medal at Weightlifting World Championship
The Armenian men’s weightlifting team secured its second medal at the World Championship. The competition is currently taking place in Bogotá, Colombia, featuring super heavyweight athletes.
Varazdat Lalayan, a member of the Armenian team, lifted 215 kg in the snatch and 246 kg in the clean and jerk, achieving a total of 461 kg, which earned him a third-place finish.
Former member of the Armenian team, Gor Minasyan, who now competes for Bahrain, secured the second position with a total of 462 kg.
The world champion remains unchanged: Georgian Lasha Talakhadze, with a total of 466 kg.
Competing in this weight category was Olympic silver medalist Simon Martirosyan, who achieved a total of 425 kg and finished in eighth place.
