VIDEO: What is Happening Right Now in the Lachin Corridor
It is already the 5th day that Azerbaijanis have blocked the only highway connecting Artsakh to Armenia, leading to an impending humanitarian disaster in Artsakh.
Recall that on the morning of December 12, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes blocked the Stepanakert-Goris highway at the Shushi-Karin Tak intersection under the pretext of environmental reasons. A similar incident had occurred on December 3. After more than three hours of negotiations with Russian peacekeepers, the road was opened for both directions.
Starting from December 13, the Azerbaijani side also shut off gas supplies to Artsakh. People were deprived of heating, hot water, and healthcare facilities were unable to provide primary medical assistance. Classes in educational institutions in Artsakh, which are gas-heated, were suspended. However, it was reported today that gas supplies to Artsakh have been restored.
In parallel to all this, Artsakh officials who remained in Yerevan and could not return to Artsakh are organizing protests in Yerevan in front of the UN office, joined by students, civil society figures, and citizens of the Republic of Armenia.
At the same time, Azerbaijani media is releasing footage and live broadcasts showing what is currently happening in the Lachin corridor. The footage reveals that those blocking the road connecting Artsakh to Armenia under allegedly environmental pretenses are primarily teenagers. It is no secret that their composition changes periodically.
