VIDEO: I Did Not Tell Any Investigator That I Made a Mistake - Hovhannisyan on Lawyer's Statement

We reported that lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan made a statement regarding Artur Hovhannisyan's testimony about the capture of Kovsakan during the 44-day war, claiming that he made a mistake when he said on October 22 that the Armenian side achieved an unprecedented victory.

Lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan's full statement: "Since the 44-day war, so much has been said about Artur Hovhannisyan that it seems there is nothing left to say, but... Recently, I was going through the case materials and encountered the following information. On October 19-20, 2020, the Azerbaijanis captured Kovsakan (Zangelan), placed their flag on the school building, and posted pictures online. The following day, on October 21, our forces received orders to carry out a combat task in Kovsakan, but fell into encirclement, resulting in 40 individuals being killed or captured. The next day, on October 22, Artur Hovhannisyan announced during the 'Haylur' program that our forces had devastated the Azerbaijanis in Kovsakan and that the flag was fake. Do you understand? Kovsakan was captured, their flag on the school roof, our forces’ actions were a failure, with 40 individuals killed or captured, while Artur says, don’t believe it, we achieved an unprecedented victory. And then he testifies to the investigator that he made a mistake. For 44 days they fed us these kinds of pieces and we ate these pieces like blind hens. Was there an element of state treason in Artur’s actions or not, we will discuss that later," the lawyer wrote.

Auroranews contacted Artur Hovhannisyan to understand what testimony he was referring to, but Hovhannisyan declined to comment.

Shortly after our publication, Hovhannisyan decided to comment on the circulating news in the media regarding him. “During the war, I exclusively received and communicated all the data—especially if they had specific details regarding place, event, time, incident, from the Armed Forces,” Hovhannisyan stated.
