Emergency Declared in Ukraine's Energy System

Emergency Declared in Ukraine's Energy System

"Ukrenergo" has declared a state of emergency in Ukraine's energy system starting from December 16, 2022. According to the company's website, the Russian attacks have resulted in a loss of 50% of the consumption of Ukraine's unified energy system. In this regard, the company has announced an emergency mode for the system.

It is noted that Kiril Timoshenko, Deputy Head of the Office of President Volodymyr Zelensky, has stated that due to damage to Ukraine's energy infrastructure, there will be emergency power outages across the country. "Due to strikes on energy facilities in several regions of Ukraine, emergency power outages will be implemented across the country," Timoshenko wrote on his Telegram channel.

He urged Ukrainians to understand the electricity outages and fluctuations in water and heating supply.

It was noted that this morning, an air alert was declared across the entire territory of Ukraine. Ukrainian "Channel 5" reported explosions occurring in the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions. The Russian Armed Forces have begun striking Ukrainian infrastructure since October 10, two days after the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge. According to Russian authorities, Ukrainian special services are behind that attack. Strikes are being carried out on facilities in the energy sector, defense industry, military management, and communication. Since that day, air alerts have been declared every day in Ukrainian regions, sometimes across the entire country.

Recall that in the early morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that a decision had been made regarding a special military operation against Ukraine, as the LPR and DPR had requested assistance.
