20-Year-Old Girl Worked as a Doctor in Turkey for Over a Year Without Education

A 20-year-old girl in Turkey has been arrested after it was discovered that she worked as a doctor in a public hospital, despite never receiving the necessary education, reports Oddity Central.

Ayşe Özkiraz's family always wished for her to become a doctor, so after finishing high school, she took the entrance exam for medical college but was not accepted.

However, she did not want to disappoint her family. Instead of confessing her failure, she deceived them into believing that she had been accepted into the prestigious Kapa Medical University and was studying to become a doctor. She even forged her exam scores and enrollment documents to prevent her parents from becoming suspicious, but this was only the beginning of her lies.

“When I was a high school student, my parents wanted me to study at medical college. I thought I would earn high scores. But I did not achieve the necessary grades to be accepted into medical college. When my family wanted to see the exam results document, I prepared a fake exam results document and showed it to them,” the girl shared.

However, the young girl did more than just lie to her family; she began to deceive everyone. She settled in a dormitory in Istanbul and told people that she was a student. She also printed a fake student ID and started wandering around Kapa Medical University, interacting with actual interns.

One day, when her mother fell ill and needed to be transferred to a hospital in Tekirdağ, Ayşe returned home and began telling hospital staff that she was a doctor. She even lied about her age, claiming she was 25 years old, despite being only 20, and used fake student cards and doctor identification cards.

After gaining the trust of the hospital staff, Ayşe Özkiraz was offered a job there, and she seized the opportunity despite never having studied or engaged in medicine.

“Over time, I gained the love and trust of the hospital's doctors. The chief physician, to whom I said I wanted to become a pediatric surgeon, even had me assist in surgery. During the operation, he told me to suture the wound,” Özkiraz recounted.

Ultimately, real doctors at the Tekirdağ hospital began to suspect her as she consistently avoided answering basic medical questions or simply answered incorrectly. Once they confirmed that she was lying, the staff called the police.

When authorities searched Ayşe Özkiraz's rented apartment, they found several fake identification cards from various hospitals in Turkey, counterfeit documents, and medical uniforms. She was arrested and ultimately confessed to posing as a doctor for over a year.
