Russian Foreign Ministry Addresses Closure of Lachin Corridor

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, addressed the issue of the closure of the Lachin Corridor during her regular weekly briefing.

“We are concerned about the blockade of the Lachin Corridor. This has occurred due to disagreements between the parties regarding the exploitation of mines. The Russian Defense Ministry and peacekeepers are actively working these days towards de-escalating the situation. We expect the full restoration of transport communication in the near future. I would like to note that under the trilateral agreement, the parties have assumed responsibilities that need to be fulfilled. Regardless of where accusations against the peacekeepers originate, they are unacceptable and ineffective. The Russian peacekeeping force is effectively carrying out its tasks and is a guarantor of regional security,” Zakharova stated.
