‘More than an hour people are waiting for transportation to Yerevan’ — Lilit Hovhannisyan
Lilit Hovhannisyan, a journalist, shared photos and a video on her Facebook page, stating:
“This is the stop at Ashtarak Square, take note. People have been waiting for over an hour for the ‘godo’ (minibuses), excuse me, the transportation going to Yerevan. There is none. Not a single means of transport. It turned out that it won't be arriving for another hour. And there are many reasons for this. Transportation schedules are very poorly organized. Most of the minibuses from Ashtarak go to the nearby villages, and the drivers of these vehicles operate on the principle of ‘I’ll drive when I feel like it.’ And that’s exactly how they drive — whenever they want.
The situation is even worse on weekends; these drivers decide to rest... Meanwhile, the people standing at this stop face this situation every day, trying to reach their workplaces in this manner. Yandex doesn’t work at all, and the most absurd part is that if a taxi driver happens to offer these people a ride to Yerevan at a reasonable price, he will face very harsh treatment from the ‘guard’ at the Ashtarak bus station.”
