We Support Azerbaijan: Cavusoglu on Events in Artsakh

Turkey has always stood by Azerbaijan. This was the case during the war and remains so in the current peacetime. This was stated by Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, responding to Azerbaijani journalists' questions after the summit of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan.

He noted that great work needs to be done to develop the "liberated territories." He stated, "On the one hand, the purpose of creating the Lachin corridor is known. Russia has an obligation to maintain peace in this area; however, on the other hand, the illegal extraction and sale of Azerbaijan's wealth from its own land contradicts international law, and this means the 'plunder of Azerbaijan's wealth.' On one side, there are uncontrolled environmental issues, and the fact that those going there as observers are not allowed to enter these areas shows how serious the violations are."

Cavusoglu added that the Russian side should collaborate with Azerbaijan on this issue and that the Armenians living in the area where the Russian "peacekeepers" are temporarily deployed should not interfere with this monitoring.

It should be recalled that a group of Azerbaijanis clad in civilian clothes, who presented themselves as environmentalists, blocked the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia on the morning of December 12. Yesterday, Azerbaijan cut off gas supply to the entire territory of Artsakh.
