Lawsuit Filed Against Brazil's Football Confederation for Mistreatment of Cat
A group of non-governmental organizations and the National Forum for Animal Welfare and Protection of Brazil have filed a lawsuit against the Brazil Football Confederation, seeking 1 million reais (approximately $200,000). According to TASS, which references the Argentine magazine El Grafico, this action was prompted by the rough treatment of a cat by the national team's press officer, Vinicius Rodrigues, during a press conference at the World Cup in Qatar.
During the press conference held on December 7, Rodrigues reportedly grabbed the cat by its fur and threw it off the table. The plaintiffs are also demanding a public apology and a training program for the confederation’s employees regarding environmental protection and animal care.
It’s worth noting that Brazil's national team lost to Croatia in the quarter-finals of the World Cup following a penalty shootout.
