Are the Reports True That Your Grandson Died? Grandfather Heard of Grandson's Death on Transport and Passed Away at Night
Prior to the grandfather's passing, no one in the family except for the father was aware of Henrik's death. This was reported by journalist and blogger Aram Gevorgyan on his Facebook page.
“Three days after the incident, the grandfather, the elder Henrik Safaryan, was returning from work when someone on the transport asked him if the reports were true that his grandson had been killed. After that, he got off and did not feel well. He came home with his face completely distorted, his lips were blue and he wouldn’t look at me. He called me into the room and asked, ‘Is it true that the kid has been killed?’ At that time, we knew nothing; I thought Henrik was hiding in the forests, but in fact, the child had long been gone. That night, the grandfather went to sleep and never woke up. There are only three of us left from our large family...” recounts Henrik's mother, Rima Avetisyan.
Henrik Safaryan had been killed on September 13 while defending position 101 in Nerin Hand, suffering from shrapnel injuries, including damage to his spine. The enemy failed to capture the position but targeted it with artillery. None of the servicemen at that combat position survived.
In a video circulated on Telegram, the father recognized his son's body and immediately headed to Kapan without informing anyone about what he saw to find Henrik's remains.
Henrik was buried next to his grandfather. He was 19 years old...
