Video: You have turned a hole into an insurmountable problem, Dumanian on the government building's lights

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia, Vahram Dumanian, is confident that the Yerevan City Hall will restore all the holes on the Republic Square building after the holidays, if needed. Dumanian expressed his opinion during a conversation with reporters after a government meeting.

It is noteworthy that the lights that appeared on the facades of the Republic Square buildings for the city’s festive decoration have become a heated topic of discussion online.

“The work on the holes has been carried out at the order of the Yerevan City Hall, and I have no doubt that they will fulfill what they promised. I am not an expert; I have heard different opinions, and there are architects who say that it is not a problem at all. Our ministry is implementing numerous programs; we are restoring various cultural heritage values with a 100-year history, and you have turned a hole into an insurmountable problem,” said Dumanian.

According to him, a commission was not formed in advance to discuss this issue as everything is temporary, and if there were to be a permanent solution, it would need to be approved by the Scientific and Methodological Council. However, the minister noted that verbal discussions had taken place.

Dumanian also mentioned that there is no documentation for permission, but he does not know whether a document is required for this. The minister added that if he were responsible for the project, there might have been different solutions.
