VIDEO: Armenia Modifying Text of Peace Agreement, Says Grigoryan
Armenia has put all its efforts into signing the peace agreement as quickly as possible. We will continue working on this even next year, said Armen Grigoryan, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, during a briefing with journalists in the National Assembly.
“Azerbaijan has provided Armenia with a text of the peace agreement. The Armenian side has worked on that text and responded to Azerbaijan, and a meeting took place in Washington. After discussions in Washington, Azerbaijan handed over its version of the text it had worked on to Armenia. Armenia is currently making its additions and modifications to that text and will soon send it to Azerbaijan,” Grigoryan stated.
He noted that there is still no final decision on whether the Nagorno-Karabakh issue will be resolved through the peace agreement or if a separate international mechanism will be created. “You know that after my meeting with the assistant to the President of Azerbaijan in Washington, there was an agreement to create an international mechanism so that Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan could discuss the rights and security of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh. Until now, there is no clarity on this mechanism. There is also no clarity on whether we will do this through the peace agreement or outside of it,” Grigoryan emphasized.
