Iran Executes Protester Involved in Attack on Security Forces
Today, an Iranian rebel has been executed for attacking and injuring a member of the security forces, according to Tasnim news agency. The man, named Mohsen Shekari, participated in blocking traffic on one of Tehran's streets and attacked a security personnel with a knife.
“Threatening people with blades and attacking members of security forces, resulting in their injury, constitutes committing military crimes,” stated the Supreme Court of Iran in its announcement.
The unrest in Iran began on September 16, following the burial of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. According to the official version, police detained Amini for not wearing her hijab properly. During interrogation, she reportedly suffered a heart attack, which led to her death. However, reports circulated on social media that Amini was beaten by police. On October 7, Iran's forensic organization released an official report on the causes of the girl's death, asserting that she had not been beaten.
Previously, Iranian authorities announced plans to execute nine prisoners convicted of participating in the unrest soon.
