VIDEO: Alen Simonyan on the Upcoming Pashinyan-Aliyev Meeting
It is possible that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will meet by the end of the month. This was stated by the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, during a briefing with reporters.
“We do not rule out that the meeting will take place. There is no information yet about where it will be held, but we are not limited to only meeting in Brussels. We are ready for any substantive discussion. Yesterday, the deputy prime ministers met, but there is still no specific information regarding the heads of state,” he noted.
When asked whether a meeting could happen by the end of the month, the Speaker of the National Assembly replied, “It is possible.”
He emphasized that all parties (Brussels, Washington, etc.) are trying to organize a meeting, but a definite decision has not yet been made.
It should be noted that on December 6, the Government of Armenia announced that the 11th meeting of the trilateral working group, co-chaired by Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Ovechkin, and Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafaev, took place in Moscow. The session discussed issues related to the construction of railways between the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Russian Federation, as well as the development of railway communications and the organization of transportation in the region.
