There are no grounds to keep David Tonoyan in custody: statement

The defense team of former Minister of Defense David Tonoyan has issued a statement. We present it below:

“After one year and three months since the arrest of David Tonoyan, the examination of the written 'evidence' from the prosecution side has finally concluded, as well as the review of the expert's responses and conclusions presented by the investigator. During this process, no facts, data, or documents were presented that could substantiate the presence of a 'criminal composition' regarding the charges brought against David Tonoyan or the necessity of keeping him in custody throughout this entire period.

Moreover, part of the 'evidence' presented was not relevant to the charges or failed to substantiate them, while another part refuted the accusations, to which the defense has made appropriate statements and presented counterarguments. In any case, we can reaffirm that there are no grounds to keep David Tonoyan in custody.”
