Putin Has Made the Greatest Mistake of His Life: Zelensky
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, is doing everything to ensure that Russia continues its fight, only to avoid admitting to himself and others that he has made a historical mistake. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky while speaking at the 'Madeleine Albright' Democracy Award ceremony.
“On February 23, 2022, the day before the escalation of the Russian war, Madeleine Albright published a statement saying that the leader of Russia is making a historical mistake. These were prophetic words. He has indeed made a mistake—the greatest mistake of his life and in the life of contemporary generations of Russians,” the president said.
Zelensky noted that “the fundamental idea of any dictatorship is to ignore mistakes and pretend that no mistakes have been made.”
“Now Russia is behaving exactly like that. It is clear that the dictator has lost. However, he is doing everything to ensure that Russia continues to fight, only to avoid admitting that a historical mistake has occurred. If Russia feels cornered, it is only Putin to blame,” he stated.
