Turkish Audiences Outraged by Netflix Series Indicating Eastern Regions as Armenian Territory

Turkish audiences have reacted angrily to the first episode of the Netflix series "Pepsi, Where's My Jet," which depicts eastern regions of Turkey as Armenian territory, according to reports from RIA Novosti, referencing Sabah newspaper.

“One of the scenes from the first episode of the series has sparked a strong reaction among Turkish viewers, as the map presented shows eastern regions of Turkey labeled as Armenian territory. The series has faced sharp criticism from its Turkish fans on social media,” the publication notes.

It is reported that “this is not the first provocation related to Netflix.” The fourth episode of the series “The Spy,” about a Mossad agent in Syria, featured a “divided” map of Turkey hanging on a wall. Additionally, the fifth episode of Netflix's documentary "The Most Important Events of World War II" included a peculiar detail where Turkey was displayed as divided on the map, with the separated lands indicated as Armenian territory,” the newspaper writes.

Diplomatic relations between Turkey and Armenia are absent, and the border between the two countries has been closed since 1993 at Ankara's initiative.
