Mayor: 'A booth is being constructed on the residential building on Amiryan... I will come personally and see that citizen.'

Construction of unauthorized buildings on community lands has come to an end, and now they are building on residential buildings as well. This was stated today, December 5, by Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan during a consultation at the Yerevan City Hall, referring to an illegal construction on the roof of one of the buildings on Amiryan Street. It was reported that the builder has a property certificate but lacks a construction permit, and construction has been suspended twice.

‘So, does he have a property certificate on the roof? It has been suspended, but it is currently installed. Now we will suspend it five times, and they will reinstall it at night. Have we lost our minds? It is on Amiryan Street. Can someone love Yerevan so little, I cannot imagine. What is it that they want to add a booth of one square meter there, probably to put a chimney in it and dump their garbage in it? I want to understand - are the rights of other residents of the building not being violated?’ said the mayor.

The head of the legal department, Taron Margaryan, responded, ‘It may be violated, but those citizens should file a complaint on their own for the violation of their rights. We will look at the package of documents, and we will find a solution. We also have a legislative proposal for addressing this issue, which is still in the discussion phase. At this moment, we will try to organize some interim solution.’

Hrachya Sargsyan then reacted, ‘Find an interim solution, take the elevator down, dismantle it from Amiryan. Let us know what is needed; I will come there personally.
