What is the Situation on the Only Highway Connecting Artsakh to Armenia: What is the Goal of the Azerbaijanis?
More than two hours have passed since the only highway connecting Artsakh and Armenia has been closed. As we reported earlier, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothing has blocked the highway near Shushi under the pretense of environmental concerns.
In order to reopen the road, representatives of the Russian peacekeeping forces stationed in Artsakh continue to engage in active negotiations with the Azerbaijani side. Artsakh's authorized state bodies are in operational contact with the command of the peacekeeping forces to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. The public will be duly informed should there be any changes in the situation.
It is evident that the recent blockade of the Shushi-Karin Tak section of the Goris-Stepanakert road by a group of Azerbaijani citizens has been organized by Azerbaijani authorities, regardless of the formal excuses they might provide. This was stated by former Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan on his Facebook page.
“Azerbaijan has carried out a political campaign in recent days that lays the groundwork for such criminal acts. This is aimed at terrorizing the civilian population and isolating them, reflecting the true face and intentions of the Azerbaijani authorities,” he noted.
