Julian Assange Files Complaint with ECHR
The founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, has filed a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in an effort to block his extradition from the UK to the US, Reuters reported on Friday.
At the end of August, Assange lodged an appeal with the London Supreme Court against Priti Patel, who was then the UK Home Secretary, regarding his extradition to the US. The hearing of the appeal is expected to take place early next year. Meanwhile, the Australian's lawyers have initiated proceedings at the ECHR.
“We confirm that the application has been accepted,” the court statement cited by Reuters notes.
