Teacher Fined for Inciting Violence Against Pashinyan's Family
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Mnatsakan Martirosyan, has imposed a fine of 150,000 dram on Hakob Grigoryan, a history teacher at Yerevan's Gay High School No. 129. This information was shared on Facebook by lawyer Ruben Melikyan.
“Considering the judge's background and public perception, the guilty verdict was not a surprise for us. Naturally, we disagree with the ruling and will discuss the possibility of appealing the judicial act with my client only after receiving the full text of the verdict,” Melikyan noted.
Recall that Hakob Grigoryan was charged back in 2021 for making public calls for violence against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his family members in the presence of students during a class. The indictment states that Grigoryan, while working as a history teacher and opposing Pashinyan's policies due to his different political views, made such calls during a seventh-grade history lesson on May 21, 2021, around 12:00 PM, using his official position in front of the students.
