The Number of Temporarily Registered Russians in Armenia Quadruples

From September 21 to November 11, 2820 Russians registered their residence in Armenia, according to the press service of the Armenian police in response to an inquiry from РБК. This figure is nearly four times higher than the number registered during the same period last year, when only 722 Russian citizens received temporary registration.

The number of applications for residence permits has also increased among Russians, with 708 people applying for a residence permit in one and a half months. In the same period last year, the number of applications was 2.5 times lower, totaling 277. During this time, 273 people received residence permits, compared to 257 people last year.

Russian citizens are allowed to stay in Armenia for no more than 180 days a year. If a Russian citizen plans to remain in the country for more than 30 days, they must register at their place of residence.

On September 21, a partial mobilization was announced in Russia. Following the corresponding decree, significant traffic jams occurred at the borders with Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Finland, with the most tense situation being at the Upper Lars checkpoint.
