Moses Hakobyan Does Not Rule Out Possibility of New Escalation by Azerbaijan

The former Chief of Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Moses Hakobyan, does not rule out the possibility of a new escalation by Azerbaijan. He believes that winter weather will not affect Azerbaijan's plans.

"I mentioned this a year ago; it is going to happen, and I have nothing more to add," Moses Hakobyan said in an interview with Factinfo, addressing the disturbing situation at the border.

When asked about the current situation, where negotiations regarding the so-called peace treaty seem to have reached a dead end, Hakobyan was questioned about what Azerbaijan might be pursuing with a new military provocation. He responded: "Everything is very clear: when Azerbaijan cannot achieve its goals through political means, it resorts to military means."

Regarding which directions could be targeted in the event of potential aggression, the former Chief of Staff did not elaborate, referring back to his previous statements. Earlier, he had stated that military operations are expected in the near future along the borders of the Republic of Armenia and Artsakh, specifically in the regions of Syunik, Vardenis, and Tavush. Other directions cannot be excluded either.
