Fake Documents in Abattoirs: Dozens of Criminal Proceedings Initiated

The police have uncovered numerous violations in the regulations governing the slaughter of agricultural animals in abattoirs. This information has been reported by the police’s information service.

“During recent inspections, factual data was obtained indicating that 15 licensed abattoirs provided false veterinary accompanying documents and veterinary-sanitary examination conclusions to several businesses engaged in meat sales between 2021 and 2022. The businesses, using these falsified documents, have been slaughtering livestock purchased from farmers on-site and selling the meat in their shops.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated in the Investigative Committee regarding apparent offenses related to the forgery and sale of these documents, with more than a dozen cases starting. Such measures are ongoing,” the statement said.
