Peskov on Russia-Turkey Relations
There are disagreements between Russia and Turkey regarding the situation in Syria, but the level of relations between the two countries allows for these issues to be resolved through dialogue. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, during the show "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin".
"There are disagreements with Turkey regarding the Syrian issue. They have been successfully resolved in the past. A document was signed in Sochi... The level of our relations and political wisdom allows us to regulate such disagreements not through confrontation, but through negotiations, albeit lengthy and tense," said Peskov.
It is worth noting that Turkey has been conducting air operations against the banned Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) Syrian branch in northern Syria since November 20. Reports indicate strikes have been carried out on the city of Kobani, as well as in northern Iraq. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has described the operation as successful and has not ruled out that it may be followed by a ground phase.
