Around 10 People Missing Following Landslide on Italian Resort Island
Around 10 people have gone missing due to a landslide on the Italian resort island of Ischia. RTVI reports that after several days of heavy rain, floods and collapses occurred.
The rescue operations are coordinated by the Naples prefecture. It has been noted that residents in areas at risk have been evacuated. Approximately 70 rescuers are currently working on the island, which is located about 30 kilometers from Naples.
“There are certain difficulties in carrying out rescue operations because the weather conditions remain challenging,” said Italy's Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi at a press conference in Rome.
