VIDEO: 'You are disseminating false information' - Gabrielyan responds to opposition claims about the destruction of NSS documents
The parliament, in an extraordinary session, adopted the government’s proposal to amend the law on the service in the national security bodies with a vote of 60 in favor and 28 against.
The National Security Service (NSS) proposes granting the NSS staff the opportunity for extraordinary certification based on justified reports from the NSS leadership and a decision by the NSS director. The package also includes permission to destroy the NSS archives and addresses the issue of changing the age threshold for NSS employees.
The draft was presented in parliament by NSS Deputy Director Andranik Simonian. It is noteworthy that the opposition 'Hayastan' faction's proposal to declassify the NSS documents before their destruction was not accepted.
Sisak Gabrielyan countered the opposition, stating that the law being adopted will not determine whether a document is classified or not. He emphasized that no document will be destroyed without following procedures, and it is specified that this will be regulated by law.
