Video: Pashinyan Comments on CSTO Meeting and Explains Why He Did Not Sign the Document

During the regular government meeting, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the CSTO summit that took place yesterday in Yerevan.

“As you are aware, the CSTO summit was held yesterday, and unfortunately, we were unable to reach a consensus on two very important documents. However, I also want to say that there was a very open and sincere discussion, and these two documents have been sent for revision,” said Pashinyan, expressing hope that an agreement could be reached.

“Despite the fact that the CSTO Council declaration was not adopted, meaning we did not sign the declaration, the decision on the CSTO's response to the escalation of September 13 was also not accepted due to our refusal to sign. Nonetheless, I still want to emphasize that I consider the discussions positive and I view the bilateral discussions with the Russian Federation in a positive light. I hope that the agreements that were recorded will be implemented as swiftly as possible,” Pashinyan stated.

It is important to note that yesterday, Nikol Pashinyan did not sign the CSTO Collective Security Council declaration.

“The draft declaration of the CSTO Collective Security Council and the joint measures to assist the Republic of Armenia have not been finalized sufficiently, and in this form, with all due respect, I am not ready to sign these documents,” Pashinyan remarked.
