Two Dead Bodies Found in a Gyumri Building
Two charred bodies have been discovered by rescuers in one of the apartments of building number 9/9 on Sayat Nova Street in Gyumri. The 911 crisis management center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia received a call around 11:20 am, reporting that a resident on the fourth floor of the building was not responding to knocks on the door. Firefighters and rescuers who arrived at the scene forced the door open.
In an interview with Sputnik Armenia, Alexander Gyozalyan, head of the Shirak Regional Rescue Administration, reported that two male bodies were found in the smoke-filled apartment. One body was discovered in the hallway, while the other was located in the bedroom.
According to the information provided by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire broke out in the living room, destroying a sofa and an armchair. All furnishings in the living room were severely heat-damaged. The fire has since self-extinguished.
The police and the investigative department are working to determine the identity of the deceased. By order of the investigator, a number of examinations have been assigned, including a forensic examination of the bodies.
