Proposed Review of Age Limit for Service in NSS Bodies
The National Assembly has convened an extraordinary session, with agenda items including amendments to the law on "National Security Bodies" and the law on "Service in National Security Bodies." NSS Deputy Director Andranik Simonian highlighted that the urgency of these bills is due to the need to prevent potential brain drain in the NSS, improve the effectiveness of personnel policies, enhance service quality, provide solutions to practical issues, and align concepts used in the laws with current legislation.
It is proposed to review the age limit for service in NSS bodies. "Currently, the age limit is set at 50 for officers below the rank of lieutenant colonel, and 55 for colonels, which is significantly lower than the age limits set by sectoral laws for military and equivalent services," said the NSS Deputy Director.
He noted that the bill proposes to increase the age limit for NSS officers, excluding high-ranking personnel, by 2 years. Additionally, considering the specifics of filling medical professional positions, it is suggested to provide an option to extend the service term for personnel in those positions from 5 years to 10 years.
