Displaced from Artsakh Protest Over Inability to Find Housing with State Grants

The residents displaced from the occupied territories of Artsakh are protesting in front of the government, demanding solutions to their housing issues. Reports Sputnik Armenia.

Specifically, former residents from Kashatagh and Berdzor have gathered near the government building. They argue that although the state has provided a certificate equivalent to 10 million drams, the housing prices are excessively high, making it impossible to purchase a home within the one-year timeframe specified for using the certificate.

Residents state that additional funds are necessary, but banks are refusing to provide loans, leaving them stuck in a predicament.

"Without consulting us, they decided the housing prices, saying that if we want to buy a house in Yerevan, they would provide an 8 million dram certificate, while for the regions it would be 10 million drams," said one of the residents.

According to the participants in the protest, about 25 families have been issued certificates, but only 2 or 3 families have attempted to buy a house, with no success so far.

The protesters emphasize that their grievances are directed towards the authorities of both Artsakh and Armenia, as they have only heard promises from both sides. Winter is approaching, and many of them are being evicted from rental apartments.

Current participants of the protest are waiting near the back entrance of the government building for officials to exit so they cannot leave without addressing their questions.
