The Civil Aviation Committee Addresses Operators of Unmanned Aerial Systems

The Civil Aviation Committee urges operators of unmanned aerial systems to adhere to regulations.

“Dear operators of unmanned aerial systems, the Civil Aviation Committee informs you that unmanned aerial systems may be operated in the airspace of the Republic of Armenia in accordance with the requirements set forth in points 18 to 21 of the decree No. 56-N of April 11, 2007, issued by the head of the Main Department of Civil Aviation under the Government of the Republic of Armenia (link: https://www.arlis.am/DocumentView.aspx?DocID=162777), specifically:

• 1. Within a radius of 5 km from the designated point of the aerodrome (center of the runway),
• 2. For remotely controlled unmanned aerial systems weighing more than 4 kg, at a relative altitude of more than 120 meters. Operations can only be conducted based on the permission granted by the Civil Aviation Committee, in accordance with the established procedures.

At the same time, in cases where flights are conducted in populated areas, the 1:1 rule must be maintained—there must be a proportional distance between the relative altitude of the remotely controlled unmanned aerial system and unwitting individuals during the flight process, but no less than 50 meters, as per the attached diagram. Based on considerations regarding the safety of aircraft flights and the well-being of individuals, the Civil Aviation Committee urges all operators of unmanned aerial systems to strictly adhere to the aforementioned requirements. Otherwise, it will pose an immediate threat to the safety of aircraft flights and human life.

Please be informed that violations of the operational requirements for unmanned aerial systems will result in administrative liability as prescribed by the RA Code of Administrative Offenses,” the statement reads.
