Nubarashen Psychiatric Hospital Staff Assaults Patient

The staff member at Nubarashen Psychiatric Health Center, Gor Antonian, has brutally assaulted one of the patients. This was reported by lawyer Armine Davtyan during a meeting with journalists.

According to her, the incident occurred on November 10. She stated that her client and the staff member had a long-standing tense relationship, and on that day, the latter took advantage of the circumstances to take personal revenge on her client.

“Two patients were pulling each other, and they fell on my client. He had just woken up from sleep and tried to separate them. At that moment, Gor Antonian entered the room and, using sexual insults, attacked my client, grabbed his head and struck it against the metal bed, then placed one foot on his abdomen and inflicted blows on various parts of his body with his other foot and hands,” said the lawyer.

Other patients tried to help the victim, pulling him away, resulting in one of Gor Antonian’s blows hitting the metal bed. The victim's hand was broken.

A representative from the Ombudsman’s office stated that this is a restraint measure. However, the lawyer believes they should be well aware that restraint measures are not applied in patient rooms, especially in front of 12 other patients, humiliating and degrading the patient. There is a special room for that purpose,” she noted.

Armine Davtyan is also concerned that despite the forensic doctor issuing a referral on November 10, she was only informed today that her client is being transferred to a polyclinic for examination.

“Now I want to understand what their purpose is; are they waiting for the traces to disappear? If not, then prove otherwise,” she stated. The lawyer demands that law enforcement agencies provide video footage of the incident.

It should be noted that Sergey Khachaturyan, the director of Nubarashen Psychiatric Health Center, and a representative from the Ombudsman’s office were also invited to the meeting with journalists. Khachaturyan informed that he would comment on the incident after the completion of investigative actions, while the Ombudsman’s office stated that they would not participate in the discussion.
