Kocharian Appears in Court Without Defenders

The next session has just begun at the Shengavit seat of the General Jurisdiction Court in the case of "Silva." Recall that the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, and former Deputy Prime Minister Armen Gevorgyan are involved in the case. Both Kocharian and Gevorgyan have appeared in court, as reported by "Haykakan Zhamanak."

It should be noted that the previous session took place on November 15, during which both the representatives of the prosecution and the defense identified a number of inaccuracies related to translation while examining evidence. Initially, the name Silva had been translated from English to Armenian as numbers, which caused laughter in the courtroom. The translator had been summoned to court but did not appear.

Robert Kocharian attended the session alone, without his defenders, leading to another postponement of the hearing. Kocharian's defenders Khudoyan and Alumyann announced they were unable to attend the hearing. Yovhannes Khudoyan mentioned that he has health issues, while Alumyann stated that he is currently participating in another hearing.

Judge Danibekyan asked the second president why his other defender, Orbelyan, does not attend the sessions. "My other defender appears when we submit a motion; I mentioned this before. Over the past year, he has been present only twice, and in both instances, a motion was submitted," Robert Kocharian responded. After that, Danibekyan asked how it happened that Orbelyan was aware of the absence of the other defenders and did not come. "I haven't spoken to him; I found out today," Kocharian replied.
