Azerbaijanis Open Targeted Fire Towards Villagers, Says Santur Sargsyan

Azerbaijanis positioned near the village of Haji in the Martuni region of Artsakh have opened fire targeting residents working in the farmland, preventing the autumn sowing from taking place.

In a conversation with “PastiInfo,” the village head Santur Sargsyan stated that the harvesting activities had just begun, with around 100 hectares of arable land still needing work. “Most of the arable lands are along the contact line, just 150-200 meters away from the Azerbaijani positions. About 60 hectares, or 30% of the village's arable land, have not been cultivated at all since the 44-day war, as these areas are adjacent to the contact line, making it impossible to approach. At least we should work on the rest, even though they are still under direct enemy fire. The peacekeepers have negotiated and there is an agreement to resume work starting Monday, of course with the presence of the peacekeepers,” Sargsyan stated.

According to the village head, in the past, the Azerbaijani positions have opened fire even on their positions, but never on the villagers and agricultural machinery engaged in agricultural work.

It is noteworthy that yesterday, around 11:40 AM, fire was opened from the Azerbaijani positions toward villagers working on agricultural tasks in the area known as “Kaghnun Tak” in the administrative territory of Haji village, while using a Belarus-brand tractor.

In connection with the incident, Igor Abrahamyan, a 43-year-old resident of Haji village, has approached the Artsakh police’s Martuni regional department and reported that gunfire had been directed at him from an adjacent Azerbaijani military position.
