Macron: "We Are in the Jungles with Two Big and Nervous Elephants"

French President Emmanuel Macron has expressed opposition to "hegemony" and "confrontation." Le Figaro reports:

“We do not believe in hegemony and confrontation. We believe in stability, we believe in innovation,” Emmanuel Macron declared.

The head of state believes that the Asia-Pacific region, amid the growing competition between China and the United States, should rely on its regional powers, including France.

“We are in the jungles with two big and nervous elephants. If they get too nervous, they will start fighting each other, and that will become a big problem for the other inhabitants of the jungles,” Macron explained.

As reported by the REGNUM news agency, the French President has urged the countries of the Asia-Pacific region to join the growing consensus around the situation.
