The U.S. Does Not Provide a Ready Document for Armenia and Azerbaijan to Sign, Says Price

The spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, Ned Price, emphasized the importance of the joint statement issued after the meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“This is a very positive sign that the two countries can not only issue a joint statement but also agree on its essence. During the meeting, the foreign ministers agreed to accelerate their negotiations and organize another meeting in the coming weeks. Secretary Blinken was involved in the discussions, but both sides had the opportunity to meet and try to resolve their differences without the United States. We remain committed to promoting a peaceful future for the South Caucasus region. We believe that ongoing dialogue is the key to resolving issues and achieving sustainable peace. The U.S. does not provide a ready document for Armenia and Azerbaijan to sign; the U.S. plays a mediating role, but, of course, does not impose conditions,” Price said.

It should be noted that at the initiative of the American side, a meeting took place on November 7 in Washington, which included Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
