Major Car Accident on Sisian-Yerevan Highway: 8 Injured
Today, a car accident occurred on the 17th km stretch of the Sisian-Yerevan highway, resulting in 8 injuries, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations press service.
Information about the accident was received by the Syunik Region Crisis Management Center at 09:04 today.
A firefighting team consisting of one combat unit from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' regional rescue department was dispatched to the scene.
It was determined that vehicles of the brands “VAZ-2106” (driver A.H., born in 1967) and “VAZ-2107” collided, resulting in A.H. being trapped.
“Before the rescuers arrived, the injured passengers of the “VAZ-2106” vehicle — S.G. (born in 1983), L.S. (born in 1983), G.N. (born in 1987), R.A. (born in 1986), and T.A. (born in 1994) — were transported by local residents to the medical center in Sisian city,” the report states.
The rescuers also freed the driver of the “VAZ-2106” from the wreckage.
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia has also commented on the accident. It noted that 5 of the injured are under the supervision of the regional medical center. Doctors assess their health conditions as moderate.
“The other 3 injured have been transferred to medical centers in the capital. The condition of one is assessed as critical, and the transfer was conducted through air ambulance,” the ministry reported.
