Risk of Escalation Between Armenia and Azerbaijan Discussed by CSTO

Valery Semerikov, the Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO, announced at a meeting of the secretaries of the Security Councils of the CIS countries that the risk of escalation and confrontation between Armenia and Azerbaijan remains. The information was reported by TASS.

According to Semerikov, events this year have shown that the CSTO needs to optimize its mechanisms for responding to crises. A package of documents regarding this issue has been prepared and is being agreed upon.

“The events and incidents that occurred this year in the area of responsibility of our organization highlighted the need to optimize the CSTO's response mechanisms to crises. A relevant package of documents has been prepared and is being agreed upon on behalf of the leaders of the CSTO member states,” said the Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO.
