Deputy Head of Patrol Service Received Bribes from Company Conducting Illegal Passenger Transfers
The Deputy Head of the Patrol Service of the Armavir Division of Police, A. S., was informed about illegal passenger transfers conducted without special permission (licensing) from the area adjacent to the Armavir bus station to the central bus station of Yerevan and vice versa, carried out by a number of drivers from "Ynkebner Trans" LLC.
Between December 2021 and April 2022, he demanded and received approximately 220,000 AMD in bribes from Garnik Yeranosyan and Sipan Hakobyan, who coordinated these activities and performed the duties of a dispatcher, as reported by the Public Relations Department of the Armenian Prosecutor General's Office.
These factual data were obtained during the investigation of a criminal case initiated by the Investigative Department of the National Security Service and sent to the Anti-Corruption Committee. On November 1, 2022, upon the decision of the supervising prosecutor, the investigator's petition was granted, and public criminal proceedings were initiated against the official who allegedly received the bribe, as well as against those who provided the bribe.
The conducting investigator has decided to apply for the arrest of the mentioned defendants, who are currently at liberty. Note: A person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law, based on a legally binding court judgment.
