Zelensky Appeals for Support from Israel: 'We are Fighting a New Great Alliance Against Russia and Iran'

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his frustration over Israel's neutrality regarding the war with Russia, but suggested that a potential shift in position could occur in the near future, particularly after Jerusalem finally agreed to supply Ukraine with advanced communication systems.

As reported by cursorinfo.co.il, Zelensky made these remarks during an extensive interview with the Israeli program Ovda, which aired on Monday evening in Israel.

Zelensky stated that he cannot "understand" Israel's stance and its refusal to supply Ukraine with air defense systems, despite his repeated requests for such weaponry.

At the same time, Zelensky inferred that Russia's use of Iranian weapons in its attacks on Ukraine might serve as a catalyst for Israel's assistance. "We are fighting a new great alliance against Russia and Iran, and now I hope that Israel will help us and respond firmly to this," he said, adding that, according to intelligence from Ukraine and other countries, Russia has acquired approximately 1,500 Iranian combat drones.

"We are fighting against Iran every day—400 Iranian drone attacks on our people, on civilians, on infrastructure. We have provided information to Israel and said, 'Help us with air defense'... We can unite in the field of air defense against this evil. There are also drones in Israel's military infrastructure or establishments that can help us during this attack, during this war," Zelensky emphasized.
