Germany and Iran Summon Each Other's Ambassadors
The Iranian ambassador in Berlin was summoned by Germany's Foreign Ministry yesterday, and on the same day, the German ambassador was called in Tehran by the local Foreign Ministry. This information was confirmed to journalists by Andrea Sassen, a representative of Germany's Foreign Office. The information comes from RIA Novosti.
"I can confirm that both our ambassador in Tehran and the Iranian ambassador here in Berlin were summoned by the respective Foreign Ministries of their countries," Sassen said during a press briefing on Friday.
She specified that in both cases, the ambassadors discussed a package of measures directed against Iran, which was presented by Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Wednesday.
Earlier, the German Foreign Minister mentioned that managing bilateral relations with Iran has become unacceptable due to the human rights situation in the country. Baerbock stated at that time that Germany intends to impose visa restrictions against Iran.
