US Personally Warned Putin About Consequences of Nuclear Weapon Use: Blinken
The United States has personally informed Russian President Vladimir Putin about the consequences of Russia's potential use of nuclear weapons. This was stated by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken in an interview with Bloomberg.
“We have made this very clear and direct to the Russians, specifically President Putin. We are concerned,” he said.
The US Secretary of State did not specify when and how the warning regarding the possible consequences of nuclear weapon use was communicated to Putin.
Commenting on the Russian side's claims that Ukraine is preparing a "dirty bomb," Blinken called it another fabrication, recalling that the Russian Federation has repeatedly attributed to others the actions it is planning to undertake itself.
Concerns about the potential use of Russian nuclear weapons in Ukraine have increased after Moscow began to publicly discuss the alleged preparations for a provocation by Ukraine using a "dirty bomb." Both Ukraine and the West have categorically denied these allegations.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden stated that Russia would face consequences if it used nuclear or chemical weapons in Ukraine, but he refrained from specifying what those consequences would be.
It is noted that yesterday, President Vladimir Putin stated that the United States is supplying Ukraine with heavy weaponry while ignoring Kyiv's desire to acquire nuclear weapons. He emphasized that Russia is aware of the Ukrainian side's intentions regarding the use of a "dirty bomb" (a low-yield nuclear weapon).
“They are now providing weapons, including heavy ones, ignoring the statements by the Kyiv regime about the desire to obtain nuclear weapons. In the end, the authorities in Kyiv have publicly stated this, but everyone is silent. It is also known about plans to use the so-called 'dirty bomb' for provocations,” the head of state said at a meeting of heads of security agencies and intelligence services of CIS countries.
A “dirty bomb” is a simple form of radiological weapon. The main damage caused by the bomb is not from the explosion but from the spread of radioactive material. Experts consider one of the types of a “dirty bomb” to be detonating non-nuclear objects using radioactive materials.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had conversations with Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, as well as the defense ministers of the UK, France, Turkey, and China, discussing possible provocations involving the use of a “dirty bomb” by Ukraine.
