US Must 'Stop Playing with Fire' on Taiwan Issue, Says Chinese Defense Ministry Spokesman

The Chinese military will thwart any attempts aimed at preventing Taiwan's reunification with the mainland. This was stated by Tan Kefei, spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Defense, during a press briefing held today. He referred to the policies pursued by the United States, indicating that the US national security strategy exaggerates the challenges posed by China.

“The United States is attempting to divide the world along ideological lines and provoke a new allied confrontation,” said the spokesman.

According to the Chinese defense ministry spokesman, the US must 'stop playing with fire' regarding the Taiwan issue. “Beijing opposes Washington's double standards on the Taiwan question,” he stated.
