The Opposition's Return Has Imprinted an Obvious Smile on the Face of the Speaker of the National Assembly

According to the newspaper "Hraparak," after a long break, the parliamentary opposition returned to the National Assembly session hall yesterday. The parliamentary rules of procedure stipulate that every Tuesday there is a time for statements, where deputies present three-minute statements from the podium.

The members of the "Hayastan" faction returned to the hall with small flags of Artsakh, which they placed on their tables. About a dozen opposition deputies delivered speeches. Gegham Manukyan stated at the beginning of his speech that the "seriousness of the moment has compelled" them to make a statement from the parliamentary podium. He then spoke about a "leaked" document that had surfaced in the press two weeks ago, noting that "the time to save the homeland is now."

It should be noted that the fact of the opposition's return to parliament left an obvious joy on the face of the Speaker of the National Assembly; it was evident that for the authorities, parliamentary work had lost its "meaning" without the opposition and without their being able to assert themselves at their expense. Interestingly, several ruling party deputies had registered for statements but, likely after receiving a call from "above," refused to make their statements.

It is reminded that the opposition announced months ago its boycott of the National Assembly sessions, stressing that they would return to parliament only on their own agenda.
