EU's Dependence on Russian Gas Decreased, Borrell Says
The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, has announced a reduction in the European Union's dependence on Russian gas supplies. He emphasized that these supplies have dropped from 40% of total imports to 7%. This information was reported by Говорит Москва.
It was noted that Borrell made this statement at a meeting of the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean. "This forces us to look for other suppliers and to place bets on non-fossil energy. And we see those opportunities in Latin America," he said.
Earlier, the World Bank warned of a significant increase in gas prices in Europe. By 2024, the price of the energy resource is expected to increase fourfold compared to the average price over the past five years.
